How To Whitelist An Email Address

This will help you anytime you have new emails from us, or any other provider, and you just want to make sure they are not pushed to your spam folder.

Since every email service handles spam a different way, we covered the main services below. Most services make it pretty easy to mark and filter your emails.

Sign in to Gmail.

Add Our Address To Your 'Contacts'

Add the email address (brandon@smartmarketers.com) to your 'Contacts'. Google will usually alllow emails from addresses in your 'Contacts'.


Mark Emails As 'Not spam'

If Gmail has marked emails as spam, tell them the emails are not spam.

  1. In Gmail, go to your spam folder.
  2. Search for the emails from the domain you want to whitelist ( brandon@smartmarketers.com).
  3. Select all of the emails.
  4. Click More and then click Not spam.

Create a filter for the address

Create an email filter to whitelist emails from an address, a domain or a group.

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner, and then Settings
  2. Click on Filters and then choose Create a new filter
  3. Next enter one of the following:
    • The email address you want to whitelist in the From field
    • The domain of the email you want to whitelist in the From field.
    • The email address of the group you want to whitelist in the From field
  4. Now click Create filter with this search
  5. In the next box When a message arrives that matches this search you will select Never send it to spam
  6. Last click the Create filter button

Tips:
  • Do not enter email addresses in both the From and To fields as it will only filter in emails that meet both criteria
  • In both the From and To fields, you can enter either a specific email address or an entire domain
  • To enter multiple criteria in each field separate them with OR as in "smartmarketers.com OR smartmarketers.net"

Sign in to Yahoo! Mail.

Add the address to your contacts

Add the email address that is sending you email (brandon@smartmarketers.com) to your Yahoo! Mail Contacts. Yahoo! will usually deliver email from addresses that are in your Contacts.


Create a filter for the address
  1. Mouse to the Settings icon and choose Settings
  2. Click Filters, then select Add
  3. Enter your Filter Name
  4. Next enter one of the following:
    • The domain of the email you want to whitelist in the Sender field, or
    • The email address of the online group you want to whitelist in the Recipient field
  5. Select Inbox as the folder to deliver the emails
  6. Click Save, then click Save again

Tips:
  • Do not enter email addresses in both the Sender and Recipient fields as Yahoo! Mail will only filter in emails that meet both criteria
  • In both the Sender and Recipient fields, you can enter either a specific email address or an entire domain
  • Create a new filter for each domain or email address you want to whitelist

For Outlook.com, Windows Live Mail, Hotmail, and MSN Mail, sign in at Outlook.com.

Add the address to your contacts

Add the address to your safe senders
  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner and choose 'More mail settings'
  2. Select 'Safe & blocked senders' and then choose 'Safe senders'
  3. Then add the domain of the email you want to whitelist
  4. Return to 'Safe & blocked senders' and then select 'Safe mailing lists'
  5. Now add the email address of the online group you want to whitelist

Tips:
  • In both the Safe senders and Safe mailing lists, you can enter either a specific email address or an entire domain
  • In both the Safe senders and Safe mailing lists, you can enter multiple domains or email addresses
